Porch
I loved doing this job. Acoya is a lovely wood to work with – it didn’t look much to start with, but once it was planed, sanded and finished it seemed almost a shame to paint it! I learned so much on this project and am incredibly proud of the finished result.
I started with a badly rotten original Victorian porch with the brief to replicate it in new wood that would last for another hundred years or more. Elegant curves, accurate geometry and some lovely decorative beading formed on the router are what you see from the outside, but the techniques that got to that stage and the precision joints I achieved are what really pleased me.
