Garden Shack
This brilliant recycling project brought life to a little-used corner of a garden. Assembled from the wood from a dismantled tree house (see Treehouse #1), very little new timber was required and almost every plank from the old structure found a new lease of life.
Live-edged boards that had previously been nailed in a weatherproof overlapped format had weathered to a glorious rainbow of shades from amber to silver. I ripped them in half along their length to get rid of a curve that had developed and carefully arranged them to create an attractive and interesting finish, with cubby holes for lighting and repurposed shutters.
The original cedar shingles had grown too brittle to reuse, so a new set made sure that this roof wouldn’t leak on outdoor revellers sheltering round the firepit in this welcoming Gin and Tonic shack.
